Reese Witherspoon cancels TV appearances

Los Angeles - Reese Witherspoon cancelled TV appearances following her arrest.

The Mud actress was due to film an interview with Good Morning America on Monday, as well as appears on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, but cancelled both interviews at the last minute after news broke about her arrest for disorderly conduct in Atlanta, Georgia last Friday.

The 37-year-old star - who was filming new movie The Good Lie in Atlanta at the time of her arrest - flew to New York City to promote her latest film, Mud, with co-star Matthew McConaughey and although she appeared at the film's premiere on Sunday, Reese and husband Jim Toth, 42, kept a low profile.

'A quick exit'

A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Her team was grappling all day as to whether she should show up."

The actress opted not to speak to the media at the premiere, while Jim, 42, "sneaked into a side entrance".

The couple reportedly made a quick exit as the screening got underway, with the source adding they "slipped off after the lights went down".

'Deeply embarassed'

The Legally Blonde star was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning when she became agitated as a police officer - who had pulled the couple over while driving - questioned and arrested her husband on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

Reese told the arresting officer: "Do you know my name? You are going to be on national news."

The actress has since apologised for her behaviour. In a statement she said she is "deeply embarrassed" and had "one too many" drinks.

Meanwhile, the couple - who were originally due in court yesterday - are due in court in Atlanta on their respective charges on 22 May and 23 May after Monday's hearing was postponed.
