Riaan Cruywagen back on SA TV screens

2013-02-01 10:40
Cape Town - Riaan Cruywagen will be heading back to television, months after he stepped down from his role as an Afrikaans news anchor on SABC2, reports Huisgenoot's website.

In an exclusive interview with Huisgenoot in their latest issue (7 February), Riaan revealed that he will be joining kykNET's breakfast show Dagbreek as a presenter as from Monday, 4 February.

What is described as a "highly confidential project", kykNET kept the news a closely guarded secret before it was revealed to members of the media recently.

It was also revealed on Dagbreek's Facebook page on Friday morning that Riaan will be joining the team of other presenters such as Dalen Lance, Elma Smit, Bettie Kemp and Harold Richter.

Dagbreek airs every Monday to Friday morning from 05:30 to 07:30 on kykNET (channel 144).

  • ingrid.angel.92 - 2013-02-01 12:09

This is wonderful news ....kudos to television for recalling this popular presenter. Retirement age should NOT be the criteria for losing quality staff. Retirees with many years of experience are lost to society...merely because a law dictates that they have to stop working. In certain areas around the world it has been shown that older people who continue to work offer their expertise and wisdom to society -the spin off -they remain respected members of society, retaining their self esteem and remaining financially stable. The benefits are innumerable!!!!Its high time this unhealthy situation be reversed. We must ALL think ahead before WE reach 'retirement age"

  • fredster.mania.5 - 2013-02-01 12:29

  • frederick.carstens - 2013-02-01 12:45

...It also became apparent that Chuck Norris has a Riaan Cruywagen poster on his living room wall.

  • plural.southafrica - 2013-02-01 12:45

I've seen this before. Someone resigns.Going to study or leaving to look after family somewhere far.Gets a heroe's send off. Meanwhile he keeps another job offer under wrap.If we only knew you were leaving for something else the present will be smaller and the party smaller. Or none at all.

  • jan.calitz1 - 2013-02-01 12:57

The best and most fluent broadcaster ever to appear on television. So well spoken in both English and Afrikaans. Thoroughly enjoy listening to him, a real pleasure to hear clear diction and pronounciation of the spoken language. Welcome back Riaan.
