Cape Town - SABC3 has apologised for the lack of commentary during the two-hour live broadcast of the River Pageant in London on Sunday.
The live broadcast started on the channel at 15:00 on Sunday and after more than two hours without commentary, SABC3 decided to cut the broadcast short.
Doulha Domingo of SABC3's publicity team said in a statement: "Despite relentless efforts on the part of technicians at the SABC and Globecast, the problem could not be resolved.
"After more than two hours of compromised coverage, the channel made the regrettable decision to discontinue the broadcast as the key elements of the pageant had taken place."
Domingo told Channel24 that the channel is still waiting for a report from its satellite provider Globecast to determine the root cause of the problem, and it is not yet known if SABC3 will be able to screen a highlights package of the pageant.
SABC3 has ensured viewers that the live broadcast of the Diamond Jubilee Concert, scheduled for 21:10 on Monday, will run smoothly.
