Strictly says goodbye to Graeme's abs

Cape Town - And then there were three…

After an intense and emotional semi-final performance, Strictly Come Dancing bid farewell to one of the more popular couples – Expresso presenter Graeme Richards and his British dance partner Lindsey Muckle – but not before the sexy couple raised eyebrows as they shared an intense, lingering kiss after they said their goodbyes.

That leaves actress Zakeeya Patel and Ryan Hammond, actor Thapelo Mokoena and Hayley Bennet, and TV presenter/model Lalla Hirayama and Grant Esterhuizen as the finalists of SABC3's Strictly Come Dancing season 6!

This week saw the introduction of the dramatic Spanish pasodoble (double step) dance and the racy South American infused tango proved a tough act as the routines were characterised by missteps and timing issues.

Improvement in timing, discipline

Having missed last week due to illness, Lalla proved her character by returning to compete. She and Grant were first on the dance floor, and their tango passed the grade but the judges did say they wished the couple could have given more.

Their second performance – the pasodoble – was better. And again the judges pleaded for more fire and magic.

As Graeme and Lindsey barely scraped through after last week's elimination, they impressed with a pasodoble that earned the couple compliments for a technically solid performance. However, Graeme's tango performance was plagued with technical problems, but the judges lauded him for his improvement in musicality, timing, discipline and control.

This season's darlings Zakeeya Patel and Ryan Hammond continued their dominance of the competition, scoring another 10 and achieving the best score for the tango.

The couple's pasodoble was rated "spectacular…on fire… being cited as having the best choreography of the season, and so on". This praise was followed up by the judges awarding them the highest of the season – 28 sterling points for both dances.

Dracula inspired tango

The consistently impressive pair of Thapelo and Hayley delivered on the showmanship of the pasodoble but the judges still found it wanting for its lack of finesse and fluidity.

The couple, however, had a deadly trick up their sleeves; their Dracula inspired tango thrilled the studio audience - but the judges... not so much.

At the end of the night it was Graeme and Lindsey who were saying their goodbyes to the audience, with a particularly effusive - and topless - Graeme telling hosts Marc Lottering and Pabi Moloi that the experience of competing in Strictly had changed his life added, "I can't wait to go out into the world and sharing all this love that's inside of me right now!"

And as the studio audience cheered, Graeme grabbed Lindsey and the two shared a long, passionate kiss that lingered even as the cameras left them. What a steamy way to end off an impressive season for the pair!

The team of SABC3's breakfast show Expresso were also keen to congratulate Graeme:

Next week's nail-biting Strictly Come Dancing final will air on SABC3 on Wednesday from 20:00 to 22:00.
