The 5 best and worst things that happened at the Emmy Awards

Los Angeles - The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards sure did have its ups and downs.

Filled with a few awkward moments from host Seth Meyers to a full force smoochfest between Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bryan Cranston – here are the 5 best and worst moments from the show:

WORST:

Seth’s Meyers jokes

We were totally hoping he would kill this. But sadly Mr. Meyers had us scratching our heads a few times with his rather vanilla flavoured mediocre jokes. We give him two stars out of five for his effort.

Jon Hamm’s little cameo

At one part of the show Seth Meyer’s does a Q&A with some of the actors in the audience. Jon Hamm, bless his beautiful soul, then asks Meyers if the show is live on air followed by a very awkward silence from the audience. Eek. We still love you Mr. Hamm.

Weird Al’s weirdness

Weird Al was asked to do his famous rewriting of popular songs – but this time he used the theme songs of the most popular TV shows. Let’s just say that Mr. Weird is not that great at singing live.

Julia Roberts didn’t win

When Julia Roberts didn’t win the Emmy Award for her role in The Normal Heart. We so wished she would take home the award!

Stephen Colbert’s monologue

Eek! We could barely watch as Stephen Colbert did his monologue with an imaginary friend on stage.

BEST:

The Normal Heart’s win

When the beautiful film, The Normal Heart, won the Emmy for best TV movie and the audience gave it a standing ovation.

Amy Poehler

Why can’t Amy Poehler host every single award show? Every time she appeared on camera the whole show got a boost of energy and the funny levels skyrocketed.

The Kiss

The moment when Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Mr. Breaking Bad himself, Bryan Cranston, smooched just before Julia ran on stage to accept her award for best actress in a comedy for her role in Veep.

Jimmy Fallon award snatcher

We just loved the moment when Jimmy Fallon ran on stage to grab the Emmy Award after The Colbert Report won it for outstanding variety, music or comedy series. "This isn’t right. I want to see the vote," he said before completing Stephen Colbert's acceptance speech and ending it with the word "bullshit" on live TV.

Sofia Vergara’s show pony moment

When for some reason they put Sofia Vergara on a rotating pedestal and we got a 360 degree view of every single part of her beautiful…uhm…dress! It was really, really silly but Sofia handled it like a real pro. We just love everything she does. She truly is a goddess. (Read more here)
