Winnie Khumalo's daughter rocks Idols

Cape Town - Songbird Winnie Khumalo's daughter, Rethabile Khumalo, gave a noteworthy rendition of Adele's Hometown Glory during the final round of Idols auditions in Johannesburg at the weekend.

Rethabile's performance earned her a golden ticket to compete at Sun City in what is known as "Hell Week", reported Sowetanlive.co.za

This is the second time the 17-year-old has auditioned for M-Net's reality singing contest.

The daughter of the I Just Want to Live my Life singer previously failed to make the final round of auditions because the judges said she wasn't ready.

"The judges told me that I was still young and I needed to grow.  This time my mother helped me overcome my nerves. I am ready to take the competition to the next level," she said.

The younger Khumalo has already been featured on two albums. She was on Kwela Tebza and multi-award winning hip hop act Deep Level's albums.

She can also be heard on her mother's upcoming album.

"I have worked closely with my mother on her upcoming album composing songs and also feature on her album," she told the newspaper.

Her mother is supportive of her but she has cautioned her on the chosen career path.

"I am excited and happy for her but she has to understand that it is not all roses in this industry, it is tough," Winnie told the Sowetan.
