Cape Town – Channel24, South Africa's largest entertainment news website, collected three of our most captivating recent "long read" articles and put them together in one place for late-night reading.

The three featured pieces include: A revealing interview with Hollywood star Christian Bale about his South African roots, a catch-up with British-Nigerian actress Wunmi Mosaku about her role in Luther, and a Q&A with Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki about the new crime procedural, FBI.

1) Christian Bale reveals more about his South African family and his unique connection with Mzansi

"Yeah, I know Cape Town well. My dad was born in Cape Town…and my grandfather was also down there, I only met him briefly towards the end of his life. I actually came down to Cape Town for that purpose of meeting him.”

He shares more without being prompted: "Then both him and I ended up in hospital together. I ended up having to get quite serious surgery whilst I was down there, but you know you’ve got the best surgeons in the world. So, I was down there for a few months in hospital, first in Durban and then down in Cape Town as well."

I had not even asked a single question yet, but Christian Bale had already given me the best interview a local journalist could ask for – the one in which a mega-star shares an honest and true connection with South Africa.

2) Luther’s Wunmi Mosaku gives us an inside peek into the new season and tells us what it’s like working alongside Idris Elba

Well-known for her role on the popular long running crime drama, Vera, where she cut her teeth as a detective constable, the actress then moved up the ranks to star as counter-terrorism officer, Olivia Greenwood in crime-thriller, Fearlesss – and then to a hardened murder squad detective in the Netflix comedy-drama, The End of the F***ing World and a detective inspector in British drama, Kiri.

For Wunmi, playing Catherine in the new season of Luther was different from the other roles as she is usually cast in more serious ones.

3) This new hit series will teach you a thing or two about the FBI

"It's going to be a window into a world that people have a lot of opinions of, but really nothing to back it up. So, we get to kind of shed a light on what these people do, what they sacrifice, why they sacrifice it. And I think it's going to change a few narratives based on the FBI and, you know, the climate with everything we're talking about from race and diversity to all that," said Zeeko about the show.
