Cape Town - American TV network NBC have pulled the iconic Jerry Springer Show off air after announcing they will not be airing new episodes.
Speaking to the Associated Press, insiders confirm that the show has come to an end after 27 seasons and 4000 episodes.
Undoubtedly, most people will miss the chair throwing, physical fights and foul mouth tirades, DRUM has decided to look back at five of the most memorable Jerry Springer episodes.
I CUT OFF MY MANHOOD
Aired in 1997, guest Earl Zea revealed during the episode that he’d cut off his own penis using garden tools.
Earl admitted to Jerry that he had made the decision after being stalked by a man named Ronnie, who claims they were once lovers which Earl denied during the episode.
Speaking on his decision to self-mutilate, Earl told the host that it is something he regrets.
I'M HERE TO MARRY MY STEP-MOM
The show reached new heights of absurdity in 2010 when a stepson confessed his feelings for his father’s wife.
In the episode, the unnamed son said about his feelings for his step mom, “I can’t take the feelings I have for her. I can’t take back the sexual intercourse. I can’t take back anything.”
She seemed to reciprocate his feelings, as in the episode she showed up in a wedding dress, gave her new lover a kiss before the two of them took part in a commitment ceremony.
More family drama occurred in 2010 as a woman confronted her twin sister for sleeping with her husband Joey.
Ashley, however, was unrepentant over her actions even going so far as to taunt her sister about the affair.
To make matters worse, Joey admitted that he “married the wrong sister,” a statement that saw the sisters get into a physical fight during the episode.
A MAN MARRIES A HORSE
Initially aired late 1998, this episode was so controversial that several TV stations refused to broadcast it.
During the episode, Jerry spoke to a man who claimed to be in love and married to his horse, Pixel.
The animal later would later join him onstage for a kiss.
Speaking years later about the episode, Jerry Springer told the Meredith Vieira’s talk show that producers didn’t even tell him Pixel was a horse until she made an appearance on stage.
