Abby Lee Miller undergoes emergency spinal surgery

Cape Town – Former Dance Mom’s star Abby Lee Miller was rushed into theatre for an emergency spinal surgery on Tuesday. 

Abby who is serving a sentence for fraud was transferred from a prison in California to a halfway house in Long Beach in March where she is serving out the rest of her time. (Read more here)

Extra reports that the 51-year-old developed an infection near her spine which required immediate attention. 

According to People she was completely paralysed from the neck down. 

Orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Hooman M. Melamed told the publication: “If we didn’t do something, she was going to die. Her blood pressure was bottoming out. She was not doing well.”

Speaking about her condition after the surgery he said that there has been some recovery. She can move her arms, feel her body and has more sensation.

Abby’s surgery comes just weeks after she was hospitalised for a thyroid condition. 

According to TMZ she was taken to hospital after medics responded to a call from the Residential Reentry Centere for an "unspecified medical complaint".
