ABC makes history with the first black bachelorette

Cape Town – ABC has just made bachelor history.

The long running dating show has finally cast its first black bachelorette in 33 seasons. 

After teases from creator Mike Fleiss about a historic announcement, Entertainment Weekly reported that a source close to the show confirmed the franchise will have its first black lead.

Rachel Lindsay who appears on the current season of The Bachelor confirmed the news on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Rachel, a lawyer from Texas says she is ready to find love and to find a husband. 

"I'm looking for someone who is ready for what I am ready for. At this point in my life, 31, I am ready to find a husband, someone who's ready to start a family," says Rachel.
