Cape Town - It seems comedian and actor Bill Cosby has found an unlikely sympathiser in singer Akon.
The Lonely hitmaker came to Bill's defence while talking to TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Monday.
This comes just two weeks after the Cosby Show star (80) was found guilty on three counts of aggravated indecent assault
He faces up to 10 years of prison for each count, meaning 30 years in total.
When a TMZ cameraman bumped into Akon on Monday and asked him what he thinks would be the appropriate sentence for the disgraced comedian, Akon responded by saying no one knows if Bill is guilty or not.
“You don't really know if he did it or he didn't do it," Akon told the cameraman, who then reminded the singer that Cosby had been convicted.
"Yeah, but it's been a lot of people convicted that's innocent," he continued.
“In situations like this you just . . . I don't know. I've already been painted a picture of Bill Cosby. He's a hero to me from the pictures that's been painted.
“It's hard to flip that around, because I grew up as a child looking up to this man. And I wasn't there at the trial, so whatever was revealed or whatever . . . these are allegations from 30, 40 years ago."
He ended the conversation by saying, "If the law doesn't catch you karma will eventually."
