'Bachelorette' contestant Tyler Gwozdz (29) dies

Cape Town –  Former Bachelorette contestant Tyler Gwozdz has died. He was 29 years old.

Producers for the show confirmed the news on Thursday reports CNN.

In a statement, they said: "We are heartbroken to hear the tragic news of Tyler's passing today. Our thoughts are with the Gwozdz family and his friends."

Tyler appeared on the 15th season of the show vying for the heart and hand of Hannah Brown.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Boca Raton Police Department told the publication that the responded to a medical overdose on 13 January involving Tyler.

TMZ first reported that Tyler was hospitalised and admitted to ICU after a suspected overdose.

Known as Tyler G on the show he had a brief appearance and after winning the first one on one date with Hannah he left the show after three episodes, reports Variety.

Luke Stone, a fellow contestant, posted an emotional tribute after news of Tyler's death broke.

He wrote on Twitter: "I lost one of my closest friends today- Tyler I'll miss you every day, miss our hours long conversations about nonsense over the phone, miss how damn funny you were, I had so much happiness and joy for what the future held for us as friends. I love you man, so much."
