Cape Town – There's something to tide us over while we wait for the Bad Boys 3 movie.
Deadline reports in an exclusive that Gabrielle Union will star in a Bad Boys spin-off series for NBC.
Union who played Syd Burnett in the second movie will reprise her role as an LAPD detective.
Syd is the sister of Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and in the film she was romantically involved with his partner Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey (Will Smith).
According to the official synopsis things get complicated with Syd and her new partner, Nancy McKenna who learns that Syd is keeping a big personal secret.
Apart from starring Union will also be the executive producer.
The actress shared the news on Instagram. Alongside a still of Bad Boys 2, she wrote: "She's back."
The series which has not been given an official title yet will be written by The Blacklist writers-producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier.
