Bonang takes on the Big Apple as she films new TV series ‘Bonang – Coming to America’

Cape Town -  South African star Bonang Matheba is taking on the Big Apple in a new reality TV series.

According to a statement, released by Bonang’s PR team, the larger-than-life media and entertainment personality is currently apartment hunting in New York.

"She’s currently in the city shooting a new reality TV series, Bonang – Coming to America, amongst other opportunities," the statement reads.

The series is being produced by Red Button Films, CSA.global, and Bonang Matheba Entertainment. Red Button also produced Public Figure, a full-length documentary on social media stars and influencers, directed by Brian Corso, and also starring Bonang.

Public Figure is an official selection at the Manchester Film Festival in the UK where it will premiere on 9 March and at the Socially Relevant Film Festival New York 2019 on 17 March. Having won the Special Merit award at the Impact Documentary Awards, Public Figure has been picked up for distribution by Gravitas Ventures.

"I’m excited to explore my personal style and narrative in the US as well as share projects I’m working on. While the world has become a lot smaller, Africa’s place in it has got a lot bigger and it’s a massive honour to be part of this growth," says Bonang, who is also one of the show’s producers.

"It has been a fantastic experience working with Bonang. She is undoubtedly one of Africa’s top talents and to be part of her journey in the global media space has been exciting and revealing," says Brian Corso.
