Caroline Flack's family share unpublished Instagram post she wrote before she died

The family of Caroline Flack has revealed an unpublished Instagram post the former Love Island presenter wanted to share just weeks before her death, but was advised by management not to.

The 40-year-old committed suicide at her East London home on Friday and was due in court next month on charges of assault, reports Independent.

Lewis Burton, who the TV personality had been in a relationship with since 2019, was the victim of the assault which resulted in "significant injury to his head". According to The Guardian, he is saddened by the news of Caroline's death and had told police he'd like to withdraw the complaint. Prosecutors have not dropped the charges though, and Caroline would have appeared in court in March.

Now, the family of the ex-Love Island host has revealed an unpublished post in which Caroline addresses the incident that resulted in her losing her job, her home, and turning the life of both her and her family upside down.

"Within 24 hours my whole world and future was swept from under my feet and all the walls that I had taken so long to build around me, collapsed. I am suddenly on a different kind of stage and everyone is watching it happen. I have always taken responsibility for what happened that night. Even on the night. But the truth is ... It was an accident," she wrote.

Caroline acknowledged having "some sort of emotional breakdown" but said "I am NOT a domestic abuser".

"My family can't take any more. I've lost my job. My home. My ability to speak," she said. "And the truth has been taken out of my hands and used as entertainment. I can't spend every day hidden away being told not to say or speak to anyone."

She added that she went on to internalise a lot of toxic opinions over the years and simply brushed it all aside, but again, it's deeply affected her and her family.

"I'm so sorry to my family for what I have brought upon them and for what my friends have had to go through," she said. "I'm not thinking about 'how I'm going to get my career back'. I'm thinking about how I'm going to get mine and my family's life back."
