Lee Phillip Bell the co-creator of popular soap operas has died at the age of 91.
The Hollywood producer worked alongside her husband, William J Bell, and created some of the most popular soapies, including The Young and the Restless as well as The Bold and the Beautiful.
Lee’s children released a statement announcing their mother’s passing but didn’t share details surrounding her death, according to People.
"Our mother was a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. Gracious and kind, she enriched the lives of all who knew her. We’ll miss her tremendously," the statement read.
The Young and the Restless cast member Melody Thomas Scott took to Twitter and described Lee as "a true matriarch".
"A television pioneer and powerhouse in her own right, she elevated daytime television," tweeted Melody, who portrays the character of Nikki Newman.
The 91-year-old wasn’t only a co-creator for popular Emmy-award winning television soap operas, she was also well-known for her successful career in journalism, The Guardian reported.
