Delron Buckley and Thando Manana join Dancing with the Stars SA

Cape Town - Soccer star Delron Buckley and rugby legend Thando Manana take to the stage on Dancing with the Stars SA.

Two of South Africa's former national sport stars - Bafana Bafana legend Delron Buckley and ex-Springbok rugby player Thando Manana - will be joining Thembisa Mdoda, Frank Opperman, Juanita De Villiers, Liesl Laurie, Odessa Swarts and Zola Nombona as the next celebrities to get down on the dancefloor in M-Net's all-star, glitzy local series Dancing with the Stars SA!

At the young age of 20, Delron Buckley was signed to Bafana Bafana, playing in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups as well as representing SA in the 2000 Sydney Olympic games. He successfully pursued his dream of playing football overseas, having earned a professional contract in the premier German Bundesliga with VFL Bochum, and resided in Germany for many years.

Delron returned to South Africa in 2012, and earned a recall to Bafana Bafana at the end of 2012. The accomplished soccer star is currently retired from playing, and gives back by coaching at Amazulu as Assistant Coach, and runs his own soccer school too.

As can be expected from a sportsman, Delron makes no bones about his ambition in the show. "I am competitive like most pro-sports people are - so make no mistake that I am going to give my best and I will be looking to win this dance off!"

Thando Manana is best known for being the third black South African player to don a Springbok jersey. Having only started playing at age sixteen, Thando's rise through the rugby ranks was astoundingly fast. Within two years of playing rugby, Manana represented Eastern Province at Craven Week, and by 2000 he was a Springbok.

Thando now spends his time as a rugby commentator, pundit and member of the infamous Room Dividers team on Metro FM. "I love dominating anything I put my mind to, so my next challenge will be to dominate the dance floor," a determined Thando said.

Both Delron and Thando have successfully released autobiographical books about their lives and sporting journeys.

Dancing with the Stars SA, in which 12 untrained local celebrities will put their best foot forward with the help of highly skilled professional Latin and Ballroom dancers, will commence on M-Net channel 101 on Sunday 4 February 2018.
