Cape Town - Cameron Boyce’s family confirmed that the actor died from an epileptic seizure.

The Descendants star, who died tragically on 6 July at the age of 20, suffered from epilepsy, his family said in a statement to E News.

“Cameron’s tragic passing was due to a seizure as a result of an ongoing medical condition, and that condition was epilepsy,” a family spokesperson said.

“We’re still trying to navigate our way through this extremely heart-wrenching time and continue to ask for privacy so that the family and all who knew and loved him can grieve his loss and make arrangements for his funeral – which in and of itself, is agonising.”

The news comes after the family revealed that the actor’s cause of death has yet to be confirmed following his autopsy, People reports.

“An autopsy was performed today, and a cause of death was deferred pending further investigation,” the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said in a press release.

The Jesse actor was pronounced dead on the scene after being found unresponsive at his home on Saturday afternoon.

The star’s family revealed in a recent statement that they’re heartbroken, Metro reports.

“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.”

“We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”
