Cape Town - Generations: The Legacy actor Duma Mnqobi will be leaving the SABC1 soapie after his contract wasn’t renewed.

The 34-year-old singer and TV producer will be on screens until the end of November.

Duma’s character Fana Mabaso comes to an end when “he’s caught up in his dad Jack Mabaso’s Machiavellian world,” Generations publicist Gaaratwe Mokhethi says.

Asked who’d he miss working with most Duma says he hasn’t had many scenes with Manaka Ranaka but he enjoyed working with her.

“She was very welcoming when I started and gave me lots of advice and pointers, she is truly a wonderful soul.”

The actor adds he also enjoyed acting alongside Thulisile Phongolo who played Namhla Diale.

”Although she left before me I enjoyed playing my first scenes with her,” he says.

Like in any work environment with challenges Duma says his time at Generations was not all hunky-dory. “I think it’s like any other working condition – there are wobbles and pressures everywhere and people are on a tight rope but I will one day write a book about it,” he giggles.

Ready to spread his wings Duma says he’ll be pursuing his music career and will focus on the projects he’s been doing with his production company, McObi – McEleli.

“We currently have a web series titled The Complex. We are also looking to release a film titled Umuthi but there are lots of projects in the pipeline, including recording my soul album that I’m hoping to release next year.”

Duma joined Generations: The Legacy in 2016 when his onscreen father, Jack Mabaso (played by Vusi Kunene), was reintroduced.

Dumi’s character has been caught in the middle of his father and mother Nandi’s conflict. Nandi (played by Brenda Mhlongo) is unhappy about Fana’s decision to help Jack with his businesses.
