Dynamo was almost kidnapped by men who wanted to 'cleanse' him from evil magic

Los Angeles - Dynamo was almost kidnapped two years ago.

The impressive illusionist was nearly caught up in a sneaky abduction plot in 2014 after a gang of men turned up at his friend's house - wrongly thinking it was the magician's - and was overheard discussing their evil plan to snatch the star.

He explained: "My friend could hear him through the door saying: 'It's definitely where he lives, this is it.

"I'm going to wait here all night for him to come out.' They wanted to take me and try and instill their religious beliefs into me to cleanse me. They thought that what I do is using the dark arts.

"Officers did a circle of the area and put a car at the end of the street for a while but they didn't catch anybody."

Since the scare, the 33-year-old magician has hired two bodyguards to protect his wife's identity from being leaked.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he said of his security: "The most important thing is our safety and her safety. She keeps herself private so nobody gives her any hassle."

Meanwhile, Dynamo was left red-faced on Wednesday when his magic trick didn't go according to plan.

The clever star stood before 10 000 fans at London's O2 Arena and made a phone reappear inside a glass bottle.

But things went downhill from there after he asked a member of the audience to call the phone and it failed to ring.

Clearly feeling embarrassed, Dynamo explained the blip: "It's a live magic show people, anything could happen."
