Exciting new Afrikaans drama series to play off in the heart of the Karoo

Cape Town - An exciting new drama series is set to kick off on the Afrikaans TV channel, kykNET next year.

Die Boekklub (The Book Club) stars acting heavyweights Jana Cilliers, Armand Aucamp, June van Mersch and Chris van Niekerk.

The series, filmed in Merweville in the picturesque Groot Karoo, follows the story of Tom Niemandt (Aucamp) as he unexpectedly inherits his grandmother’s guesthouse.

Tom is forced to live in the small town for a year and unwillingly becomes part of a local book club filled with interesting characters.

The series has 13 episodes written by Louis Pretorius with Quentin Krog as director. Each episode will centre around a book with a touch of magical realism and some ghosts for a little bit of extra thrill.

Die Boekklub starts on 12 January 2016 at 20:30 on kykNET (DStv channel 144).
