Cape Town – The Television Academy handed out its first Emmy awards this weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday the Creative the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies took place in Los Angeles.
These awards honour the artistic and technical achievements in American television programming.
The big winners over the two nights were Game of Thrones, with 10 Emmys followed by Chernobyl with 7 and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel with 6, reports Deadline.
Other big winners included RuPaul's Drag Race win 3 Emmys, with host RuPaul Charles' fourth win in a row for Outstanding Host.
In the acting categories Bradley Whitford and Cherry Jones won for their roles in The Handmaid's Tale and Jane Lynch and Luke Kirby won for their roles in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
The primetime Emmys ceremony will be held on Sunday, 22 September.
