Cape Town – Gillian Anderson is set to play the Iron Lady in the fourth season of The Crown.
Variety reports that the actress has signed on to play British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
Filming for season four will kick off later this year in winter.
While details about the season remain under wraps it will most likely focus on politics such as South Africa's apartheid legislation, the Falklands War and the 1984/5 miner's strike reports the DailyMail.
Anderson will join other newcomers Olivia Colman who plays the Queen, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret.
Filming of the third season is still currently underway. On Sunday the cast was seen filming scenes in at an airfield in London.

According to IndieWire the season will kick off in the year 1963 and focus on everything from Beatlemania to England winning the World Cup in 1966.
