The Gossip Girl reboot has been delayed to 2021.

In July 2019 HBO Max announced that a new 10-episode series has been greenlit for their streaming service, HBO Max.

The series will follow the scandals and personal lives of a whole new generation of New York private school students and will take place eight years after the original series.

In March the cast of the upcoming series was announced with Kristen Bell returning to narrate the show.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the series will now only be available in 2021 and that production has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

HBO Max chief content officer Kevin Reilly told Vulture that production on the series had not started yet.

"They hadn't even started production yet; they were in pre-production and ready to roll."
