Cuba Gooding Jr got emotional while playing OJ Simpson

Los Angeles - Cuba Gooding Jr broke down in tears while filming The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.

The 48-year-old actor plays disgraced American footballer OJ Simpson in the TV drama and recalls how he "wept in his trailer" when he filmed one scene where he has to kiss the face of the late Nicole Brown Simpson, Simpson's wife who he was found not guilty of murdering, while she is in her coffin.

Cuba recalled: "The day we shot the funeral scene and OJ kissed Nicole's corpse, we broke for lunch and I wept in my trailer. I was looking at myself in there going, 'What are you doing, why are you so emotional?' And I think it's because of my guilt."

Cuba admitted he felt guilty because that was the first time he ever considered the victims, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.

He explained to the Daily Telegraph: "Guilt because in 1995 when that verdict came up 'not guilty', I jumped up, I was yelling and screaming because I was like, fuck the man who tried to do another black man wrong, and I never grieved for those two families and their loss, and it all hit me on that day in that scene, where the Goldmans and the Browns, their children are gone from them. And whether you believe he did it or not, that was something that I personally didn't care about at the time of the verdict."
