The finale of this addictive family drama aired in the US earlier this week and set Twitter alight, and it’s already been signed off for a second season. It’s about a family of megalomaniacs battling for a chunk of their father’s media and entertainment empire, and the power and profits that come with it. Stream all 8 episodes now to find out why everyone’s talking about this show that’s like a cross between Billions, Veep and Game of Thrones.
2. Younger S5, episodes 5-8 (Showmax)
Another batch of episodes of this sexy, stylish rom-com landed on Showmax at the beginning of the month, bringing us closer and closer to the moment when everything will suddenly work itself out for Liza Miller, the 40-something who’s been pretending to be 26. But - let’s be honest here - there’s no way things can work out for her without something breaking first. The cat’s pretty much out the bag for almost everyone important in Liza’s life, except her tyrant of a boss, Diana Trout (is it just us, or does she get more glamorous and more #goals the more we watch?). Episodes 9 to 12 arrive on 29 August.
3. Dark Angel (Showmax)
Britain’s first serial killer was a poor miner’s daughter called Mary Ann Cotton, who claimed more victims than her infamous male counterpart Jack the Ripper. This three-part miniseries starring JoAnne Froggatt (who you’ll recognise as Anna from Downton Abbey, but this time in a much less lovable role) is based on her life, her methods, her murders and her motives. Best watched with a nice cup of tea…
4. The Woman in White (DStv Now)
Based on the Wilkie Collins gothic mystery novel published in 1859, one of the first in the genre, this gripping period drama is about Marian the sleuth and her partners, her half-sister Laura and her art teacher, unravelling the mystery behind a strange woman who’s either mad, a ghost, or both. This is a story of murder, mistaken identity and, like any gothic mystery worth its salt, an evil Count.
5. Keeping Up with the Kardashians S15 (DStv Now)
With the first episode of the latest season dropping at 8pm on Sunday, 12 August on DStv Now, KUWTK fans can catch up on all the most recent developments in the Kardashian/Jenner women’s lives, from Khloe’s baby True, to Kylie’s being tipped as the world’s youngest self-made billionaire (!), to Kim’s baby Chicago, to Kendall launching her own radio show. Don’t feel like leaving the house? Get yourself into the KUWTK mood by binge-watching the first 13 seasons on Showmax.
6. Like Father (Netflix)
If you recently rewatched all of Frasier and want more Kelsey Grammer in your life, if you’re a fan of fun comedies with heart, or want to chase away your winter blues by watching a movie set in a sunny paradise, check out Netflix’s latest movie addition, about a hard-working, tightly wound young woman (Kristen Bell) who gets left at the altar and takes her workaholic father with her on her honeymoon.
7. The Internship (Amazon Prime)
Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn star as Gen X salesmen who fall victim to downsizing and decide, as you do, to wangle their way into the running for internships at the world’s giantest of internet giants. Of course, they have zero cyber savvy and the other potential interns they’re teamed up with are total losers. Shenanigans - and Quidditch - ensue.
