House star also pays tribute to SA’s Springbok legend

Cape Town  - Hugh Laurie - star of the popular TV series, House - took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to pay tribute to the late Joost van der Westhuizen.

Van der Westhuizen died on Monday afternoon after being diagnosed with motor neuron disease in 2011. He was 45 years old.

Laurie joined a long list of both local and international stars that shared their condolences on social media.

The British actor tweeted: "RIP Joost van der Westhuizen, taken by the infernal motor neuron disease at 45. Not a thorn, but a dagger in English sides. Brilliant man."

Controversial British TV host, Piers Morgan also paid to tribute to the South African rugby legend, tweeting: "One of the greatest players to ever grace the game of rugby".

Joost’s death made headlines around the world on Monday afternoon with the hashtag #RIPJoost quickly becoming a trending topic on social networking services.
