Idols 13: Golden tickets rain in the Capital City

Cape Town - People call it a country within a country. It has its own language, culture and vibe. Welcome to Pretoria, the Jacaranda City fondly referred to by its people as Cap’ City, where the nightlife is lit and the dance culture unparalleled.

But can fearless Pitoli majaivanes sing as boldly as they dance? If the Golden Ticket numbers are anything to go by, then the answer is a loud and resolute, yes!

The Idols SA Season 13 auditions saw the young and ambitious come out in droves to take a chance in front of the judges at The State Theatre where the Capital bagged 18 Golden tickets.

The guest judge

Idols Season 8 winner and award-winning musician Khaya Mthethwa made it to the other side of the table as a guest judge on Sunday night's episode, and his experience as a contestant saw him empathise with the wide-eyed hopefuls, without being a pushover.

“Idols is the only place you can come in as a dreamer and leave a superstar,” he declared.

The comebacks

The episode could have been dubbed “another shot at fame” as quite a few returnees came back to try their luck. Lindo, Faith, Ginger and Thapelo made it yet again to Theatre Week.

The four nods club

And while getting four nods is like cracking the code to the vault housing the crown jewels, the truly talented ones did it, booking themselves a safe spot in the first round of Theatre Week.

Contestants’ auditions were uploaded to the judges and four lucky candidates had their Golden Tickets hand delivered to their doors by none other than Proverb himself.
