International Emmys revoke Kevin Spacey's award

Cape Town – The International Emmy Awards will no longer honour Kevin Spacey at this year's ceremony.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced earlier this year that the Oscar winner would receive the 2017 International Emmy Founders Award, which goes to “an individual who crosses cultural boundaries to touch humanity.”

The organisation tweeted on Monday "that in light of recent events it will not honour Kevin Spacey with the 2017 Intl Emmy Founders Award."

This comes after Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct by Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp. (Read more here)

According to E! News a replacement honouree has not been announced.  

The 45th International Emmy Awards Gala will be held on 20 November in New York.
