Jane the Virgin getting a spinoff show

Cape Town – Good news for Jane the Virgin fans the popular series is getting a spinoff show. 

The CW announced last year that the fifth season of the comedy will be its final one. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter the network working on a spinoff. While details remain under wraps the publication reports that it will feature a new cast and follow a storyline from Jane the Virgin. 

Variety further reports that the spinoff will be an anthology series with each season based on a fictional novel written by Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez).

Jane the Virgin writer Valentina Garza will write the show and Rodriguez will serve as executive producer. 

Season 5 of Jane the Virgin will air in 2019.
