Johnny and Jesse Clegg to perform on Dancing with the Stars SA

Cape Town - It’s a proudly South African extravaganza on Dancing With The Stars SA this week!

Not only will the top ten remaining dancing couples in the competition be strutting their stuff to the beats of the biggest South African hits; music legend Johnny Clegg, who embarked on a heartfelt final global tour this year to say goodbye to his millions of fans while fighting pancreatic cancer, and his hit-making son Jesse Clegg will perform together live for the first time ever on a reality television show stage.

“We are incredibly honoured to have Johnny and Jesse on the show,” says M-Net’s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard.
“We know that it will be a very special personal moment for them and having Johnny on the programme is also our way to thank a true legend for his immense contribution to our music industry. We invite all our viewers to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime performance.”

During the two-hour live Dancing With The Stars SA extravaganza, starting at 17:00 on M-Net (DStv 101), the dancing couples will be challenged to put their best foot forward to show the internationally acclaimed judges and the voting public how they mastered new dancing styles.

But this week the stakes are even higher as they all desperately want their technique and storytelling on the dance floor to do justice to the music of Mi Casa, Freshly Ground, Mango Groove, Goodluck, Black Coffee, Laurika Rauch, Miriam Makeba, and Cassper Nyovest.

Who will be dancing what?

Singer and songwriter Connell Cruise and his dancing partner Marcella Solimeo, who have wowed the judges week after week to date, are ready to tackle the jive.

Frank Opperman and Jeanné are hoping to step up their game with a cha-cha-cha. But then there’s another cha-cha-cha that promises to get the audience to go ga-ga – that of Protea Netball goal shooter Vanes-Mari du Toit and Johannes Radebe.

For the first time in the competition, couples will be doing the Charleston, tune in to see how retired Bafana Bafana winger Delron Buckley and Angelique Allison do justice to this popular style from the 1920s.

Silverscreen actress Juanita de Villiers and her partner Johan Dippenaar will be sweeping across the dance floor with the Viennese waltz, while actor and model Eden Classens and Ash-Leigh Hunter are going dramatic with the Paso Doble.

Then there’s a Salsa from television actress Zola Nombona and Tebogo Mashilo as well as former Miss SA and radio presenter Liesl Laurie and Ryan Hammond; and a Rumba from athletics coach Odessa Swarts and Dylon Daniels.

Former Blue Bulls rugby player Thando Manana and Michelle Oppenshaw are also determined not to end up in a dance-off again. They hope to get another standing ovation with a terrific Tango.

The will also be a tailor-made Pantsula group dance.
