Cape Town - Julia Roberts’ response to her Emmy snub is arguably better than any acceptance speech she could give.

The star of Amazon’s Homecoming didn’t get an Emmy nomination for her work in the military-themed thriller, for which she was an executive producer, CNN reports.

Julia plays social worker Heidi Bergman who counsels returning soldiers at an experimental facility.

Despite almost every Emmy expert predicting that the 51-year-old actress would receive a nomination, Julia wasn’t on the list of nominees which included Viola Davis, Emilia Clarke and Sandra Oh, E! Online reports.

“Well, I’m in exceptional company at least,” she said on Instagram, along with a screengrab of her phone showing a news alert informing readers that neither she, George Clooney, nor Emma Stone were recognised for their television work.

The Oscar winner’s humorous response suggests she’s not particularly bothered by her Emmy snub.

Her co-stars Stephen James and Bobby Cannavale didn’t get nominations either. And the series wasn’t nominated in the main drama series category.

Homecoming will return for a second season with Julia remaining as an executive producer.
