Johannesburg - After 13 thirteen years of being on e-tv’s drama series, Scandal! - Kagiso Modupe is leaving the show to pursue his other talents.

The multi-talented artist who is adored by fans for his character as Magaliso ‘Mangi’ Nyathi, will be appearing on Scandal! for the last time in May.

DRUM caught up with him to find out about his plans after Scandal:

What will you be doing after Scandal!?

I have a lot of things that are coming up. Last year I set 17 goals to achieve in 2017 and I achieved 16, so for me that was just to explore myself as an artist. My music is already out and my book is being launched soon. I’m also working on a film with my daughter, although I cannot say much about it. After Scandal!, I just want to explore myself as a creative. What makes me happy is that I’m leaving the show on good terms. I’ll still be acting and taking on other roles on TV.

Which moment would you say was your best on Scandal!?

It’s hard to say because I’ve had a lot of good on-screen and off-screen moments in the past 13 years.  One being getting to work with all kinds of people. We created magic on TV together.

Who inspired you the most on set?

I’m a people’s person, so everyone on set inspired me - from the cleaners to the executive producers. As a creative, there are a lot of things that you pick up from everyone you come across. When you have a relationship with everyone, you are able to incorporate those things into your craft. I’ve also worked with amazing actors. People like bra Sello Maake and Sandy Mokoena taught me a lot of things. I’ve had fun with people such as Brighton and Mapaseka, their energies are different and watching them grow has been great. What inspired me most was other people’s stories and their journeys. Life was the biggest inspiration for me.

What will you miss about Scandal?

The behind the scenes relationships with people. I’d been there for a long time and basically grew up there. I’m going to miss all the memories. I remember the time when I was getting married, I was doing my last scene for the day when everyone came out and started singing for me. That day I felt like a superhero that was going to get the girl. The personal relationships I had with people behind the scenes are definitely what I’m going to miss the most.

Why radio and music? Have they always been something you wanted to pursue?

Yes. I’ve always liked interacting with people. Like I said, I am a people’s person so radio for me comes naturally. It’s not one of those things which I have to force or use my celebrity status to get into. From school, I’ve always had music in my DNA. When I am on stage it also feels natural, I does not feel foreign or forced for me. Even when I’d MC e-tv roadshows, it would become easy and fun for me.
