Cape Town - Singer John Legend is set to join The Voice US for season 16 as a coach, but it seems he’s off to a rocky start!
John (40) – who’s replacing Jennifer Hudson – was apparently pushing for his BFF, Kanye West (41), to be an advisor for his team, according to Radar Online.
The Beauty and the Beast singer has been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times, and now it’s his turn to decide who’ll be the perfect mentor he wants his buddy.
John’s friendship with the rapper even helped land him a record deal with Columbia Records back in 2004, according to Hollywood Gossip.
Their wives, model Chrissy Teigen (33) and reality TV star Kim Kardashian (38), are also close friends.
So it makes sense for John to want Kanye on his team.
But when the other returning coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine — heard about this they apparently had concerns, Radar Online reports.
“Kanye has just caused too many problems in his personal life and endeavours lately and they just feel it would be best if Kim and he stayed away from the show for John’s first season,” an insider said to the publication.
