Katlego Maboe releases official TIOT8 theme song

Johannesburg - Earlier this year, Katlego Maboe was announced as the presenter for the upcoming eighth season of Tropika Island Of Treasure season eight (#TIOT8) which takes place in the Maldives.

He has become one of the most formidable presenters in the country, but he’s a gifted singer as well. He used to be a part of the popular acapella group Flip A Coin, and music is something he continues to be passionate about.

Now, Katlego is making his musical comeback as he releases Smoooth Fame – the theme song for #TIOT8.

The song, written by Katlego and producer Ross Finck, is all about becoming a star while going beyond challenges and taking necessary, yet calculated risks, to reach those goals – a message inspired by the TV show. The song has a strong tropical influence blended with subtle pop and hip-hop elements which makes it the perfect theme song for the show’s next season.

Smoooth Fame follows the popular Tropika Island Of Treasure Seychelles theme song which was performed by #TIOT7 contestants Karlien Van Jaarsveld, Emtee, and winner of season seven, Anga “NaakMusiQ”

“The show is all about taking people on a smoooth journey and enjoying every moment of life,” Katlego says. “The song is the perfect theme song for the new season of Tropika Island Of Treasure because it’s upbeat, energetic and catchy – just like the show. The song is my expression of the ultimate island party and living life to the smoothest.”

Smoooth Fame will be available for download on iTunes and Google Play next week.
