Kit Harington needed therapy for 'Game of Thrones' fame

Cape Town - Kit Harington has revealed that he sought therapy at the height of his Game of Thrones fame.

The 32-year-old, who plays Jon Snow in the Emmy award-winning drama, revealed in an interview with Variety that he was under intense scrutiny when the character was killed off at the end of season 5.

His character was then resurrected is season 6.

Kit told the publication that it was his darkest period when the show was centred on Jon. "When you become the cliffhanger of a TV show, and a TV show probably at the height of its power, the focus on you is fucking terrifying," said Kit.

He went on to say that it was a very dark time in his life and that he was feeling unsafe.

"I felt I had to feel that I was the most fortunate person in the world, when actually, I felt very vulnerable. I had a shaky time in my life around there — like I think a lot of people do in their 20s. That was a time when I started therapy, and started talking to people," revealed Kit.

Game of Thrones season 8 debuts on 15 April.
