Cape Town - If you want out of a relationship, then leave. But it’s not as easy right? Well, DSTV has got your back. They are bringing a new reality show, Seng’khathele which will give participants a platform to say, ‘It’s over’.

The show that will be hosted by Isibaya actress, Lerato Mvelase will air in January 2019 on Mzansi Wethu (DStv 163).

In an interview with DRUM the actress admitted that her first day on set was nerve-wrecking because she was not acting.

“It’s Lerato Mvelase sharing a moment with strangers that are basically sharing their deep and personal experiences with me.”

She says she had to be neutral, mature and empowering. “The stories I hear from couples are shocking, the abuse, the pain, the betrayal and toxicity of their relationships.” But having to share positive words with the participants excites her.

She tells us that the show will make a lot of people question their relationships. “If they are with someone that deserves them and if it reciprocates the love, respect and loyalty they have given over the years.”

Lerato was in an on and off relationship with actor and comedian, Siyabonga “Siya B” Radebe. They have a daughter together but last year they decided to call it quits.

Talking about her own experiences, Lerato argues that there is no school for break-up.

“You feel unworthy, unloved, mistreated, violated, betrayed and you lose the person you know yourself to be. This could go on for days, months and years.”

She adds that an unhealthy relationship does changes you.

“Then it's no longer a feeling, it becomes a part of you, like an insidious disease that sits deep in your gut and you start to look different, behave differently and your energy, your aura and spirit is so foreign with you but you can't get rid of it until you make a decision to choose you.”

“There is nothing as beautiful as seeing a woman empowered.”

Seng’khathele also gives couples seeking closure the opportunity to address reasons for their unhappiness.

Couples will share shocking revelations including deceit, drug addiction, infidelity, abuse, and bedroom problems.

The 13-part series will have post counselling and therapy for couples featured on the show.

The show’s executive producer, Tebogo Keebine of Tribal Media House says they wanted to flip the coin and give courage to people who do not know how to say goodbye.

However, Reneilwe Sema who is director of local entertainment channels at M-Net said while they celebrate love through shows like Our Perfect Wedding and Marry Me Now, they wanted to explore the complexities of break-ups.

Seng’Khathele premieres on 5 January on Mzansi Wethu (DStv 163) at 19:30.
