Meet the newest members of the royal family in The Crown season 3

Cape Town – The royal family for Netflix’s The Crown season 3 is shaping up nicely.

The streaming service has announced three new cast members.

Josh O’Connor will play Prince Charles, Erin Doherty will play Princess Anne and Marion Bailey will play the Queen Mother.

O’ Connor, best known for his role in The Durrell’s, is thrilled to be joining The Firm.

"Seasons 3 and 4 will follow some of the most turbulent events in the Prince of Wales’ life and our national story and I’m excited to be bringing to life the man in the midst of it all. I’m very aware it’s a formidably talented family to be joining, but reliably informed I have the ears for the part and will fit right in."

Doherty who starred in Call The Midwife says it is both surreal and special to be part of The Crown

"There is such a rare dynamic within Princess Anne that I am incredible grateful to be able to explore."

While Bailey, who takes over the role from Victoria Hamilton, says it is a gift to be playing the fascinating and greatly loved Queen Mother.

According to the U.K. Sunday Times the third season will focus on the Wilson Era – the two terms Wilson was prime minister (1964-1970 and 1974-1976).

Jason Watkins, who will play Prime Minister Harold Wilson says he is looking forward to bringing the character to life.

And if you’re wondering when Princess Diana will make her appearance The Hollywood Reporter says she will be introduced towards the end of the third season and feature prominently in the fourth season.

Season three will premiere on Netflix in 2019.
