Jennifer Hudson, who has been a coach on the show since 2017, announced on Twitter on Thursday that she'd be leaving The Voice UK because of a busy schedule saying: "Hey y'all! I'm sad to share that I won't be able to join my friends in the red chair for @thevoiceuk this season due to filming commitments here in the States. I sure will miss my UK family, but I'll be back soon for 'Cats' and 'Respect'! Throw some shoes for me in the meantime."

ITV's head of entertainment, Katie Rawcliffe, said: "Meghan Trainor is such an exciting addition to The Voice UK. She has blown us away with her energy and enthusiasm and, although she is our youngest coach, she has an impressive career in music set to inspire all who join Team Meghan."

She also extended a "heartfelt thanks" to Jennifer Hudson, adding: "She has been a tremendous coach, loved by viewers and the singers she has worked with during her time on the show."

The next series of The Voice UK starts filming in October and is set to air on ITV Choice (DStv 123) in early 2020.
