Speaking exclusively to DRUM’s sister magazine Move!, Philly Kubheka, HOD of PR and publicity at the local entertainment channel, confirmed the news.
"After four successful seasons on Isibaya, Menzi Ngubane, who plays the role of Judas Ngwenya, is leaving the show. . . Sadly, the story of Judas Ngwenya has come to an end, his terrible deeds have led him to his own tragic death," he revealed.
Although he didn’t mention the reasons behind Menzi’s exit, reports suggested the actor had been “dumped” from the telenovela.
But Menzi took to Instagram to set the record straight, addressing the allegations by saying he hadn’t been dumped from the show and was leaving the production a happy man.
"I thought I should set the record straight my people. I have not been 'dumped' by @Isibaya #isibaya as some newspapers have reported. My story/character’s role has ended, and I’m leaving Isibaya a happy man having had entertained you," he wrote, before thanking his fans for their support.
"Thank you for your support. Details are on the pictures," he captioned a picture of a statement from his management.
"Menzi leaves Isibaya with a happy heart having enjoyed his role as Judas Ngwenya. There has been misinformed reports that Menzi was ‘dumped’ by the producers of Isibaya, however we would like to clarify that the character had run its course and unfortunately, if there is no story to be told the character will ultimately die," read part of the statement.
