Nambitha Ben-Mazwi joins the cast of e.tv's Scandal! in sultry new role

Johannesburg – TV star Nambitha Ben-Mazwi has officially joined the cast of e.tv soapie Scandal!

The actress, who previously starred in SABC legal drama Diamond City, is set to take on the role of Shado, the host of a secret gentlemen's club on the show.

In a statement released to the press, Nambitha's new character is described as "the epitome of sexy with an aura of elegance and a manipulative quality just to get her way." Shado will also be introduced as the love interest of Quinton Nyathi played by Brighton Ngoma.

Speaking on joining the show, Nambitha said: "I've always steered away from soapies for so long, I am so excited to be entering the soapie world. I'm also excited to be back with the e.tv family and have loved every minute spent with the warm and welcoming Scandal! team."

When it comes to taking on the role of Shado, although she found it challenging at first, the star says she strives to play characters that are vastly different from the ones she has played before.: "I tried not to judge her [Shado] character and put more effort into understanding how girls in that industry work. I did my research into the human and vulnerable element into women who use men to get what they want and those that lead double lives and tried to understand them as people and not as 'working girls'."

Fans will be introduced to Nambitha's character on Friday 8 February.

Scandal! airs weeknights at 19:30 on e.tv (DStv channel 194).
