Naomi Watts to star in Game of Thrones prequel

Cape Town – Naomi Watts has been cast in a lead role in the upcoming Game of Thrones spin-off series. 

While details about her character are under wraps Varietyreports that she will be playing “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.”

The series will be written by George R.R. Martin and British screenwriter Jane Goldman.

Earlier this year HBO released a statement saying the prequel will give viewers the chance to see "the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour."

According to Entertainment Weekly the series will take place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones.
