Netflix cancels Luke Cage after 2 seasons

Cape Town – According to Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter and Variety Netflix has cancelled Luke Cage.

The Marvel show had two seasons on the streaming network.

The cancellation comes hot on the heels of the news that Iron Fist has also been cancelled.

Both heroes star – along with Jessica Jones and Daredevil – in a series called The Defenders

About Luke Cage Netflix and Marvel told Deadline, "Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season.

"Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series."

Trade publication Variety also reports that talks for a third season fell through after “creative differences.”

Fans have reacted on social media with mixed emotions about the show’s cancellation.
