One Direction fans freak out over 'Euphoria' sex scene

Cape Town – A fan-fiction sex scene between Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson in the HBO show Euphoria has angered One Direction fans.

In the third episode of the series which aired on Sunday the character, Kat Hernandez (Barbie Ferreira) writes a fan-fiction about the One Direction members titled, Larry Stylinson.

In an animated sequence shows Harry performs a sexual act on Louis.

A fan on Twitter wondered whether the show had the scene approved by Harry and Louis.

She wrote: "Just going to sit and hope that they for some reason approved it because surely they had to, to get it aired.  Harry seems quite friendly with the people involved, but u can just tell Louis' not gonna like it."

Louis replied saying, "I can categorically say that I was not contacted nor did I approve it."

One Direction fans took to social media to express their outrage about the scene with some calling it uncomfortable, embarrassing, disgusting, and disrespectful.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times showrunner Sam Levinson explained why  they decided to animate Kat's fan fiction.

"It's sort of what Kat's dream would be if she could see an animation of one of her stories. That was the impetus behind it. It's sort of allowing her wishes to come true, " he told the newspaper.

Channel24 has viewed the episode via an HBO screening and found that the content works really well within the context of the show.

Euphoria centres on 17-year-old Rue (Zendaya) a drug addict who just came out of rehab and a group of high school students as they grapple with issues of drugs, sex, and violence.

The show is no stranger to controversy the opening scenes of episode two which featured 30 penises caused quite an uproar. (Read more here)
