Pauly D and JWoww give us the DL on their Jersey Shore reunion

Cape Town – Get ready for more gym, more tan, and more laundry.

After a six year hiatus Jersey Shore is back on television screens.

The cast have reunited for a brand new reunion series titled Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. In fact, a second season has already been ordered.

WATCH THE TRAILER HERE:

Channel24 caught up with Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio and Jennifer "JWoww" Farley while they were on a tour of London to meet the Geordie Shore cast, which is a British spin-off of the show.

In true Jersey Shore fashion we had our telephone interview while they were on a bus.

On their big comeback Paul says now was the right time because the world needs them.

“There is so much negativity and we can bring some positive vibes and show you guys what reality shows are supposed to be about.”

Jennifer adds that they missed each other and that they were working hard for a year to get back together.

“Knowing the chemistry we had with each other and with MTV we knew we could come back stronger than ever.”

'IT WAS LIKE WE NEVER LEFT'

A lot has happened since the last time we saw them together onscreen.

Jennifer and Nicole "Snooki Polizzi have two children each and earlier this month Ronnie Ortiz-Magro welcomed a baby girl.

There have been marriages, engagements, run in’s with the law and even other reality shows. But when they got back into that house it was like they never left.

“Coming back into the house, it was like we never left each other. We picked up right where we left off, the chemistry that we have is pretty wild and after all these years it’s still there,” says Paul.

Being reunited with the cast was phenomenal says Jennifer.

“Don’t get me wrong we still get mad with each other but we brothers and sisters and will always have each other’s backs. I think we have something special that you don’t see with other cast on shows.”

While Jennifer loved being back with everyone she did have some mom guilt leaving her kids.

“When we filmed the first season I was away from them and it was very rough, I had a lot of mom guilt. Thankfully the second season isn’t going to be like that.”

Since the cast was last on air, a lot has changed. Social media is more prevalent and the social climate itself has become more censored.

Speaking about censoring themselves this time around Jennifer says “we are who we are and we don’t censor ourselves.”

'BRINGING FAMILIES TOGETHER'

For Paul the highlight of the season is being with the family again and turning up in Miami.

“We went harder that we ever went. We need a vacation from our regular lives and we missed each other so much and it was great. It was a wild one, for sure!”

With their initial fan base being older now Jennifer is excited to see how the younger new audience will take to them.

“Ronnie said its best that the older generation now have kids – so in a corny way we are bringing families together. Now they can watch with their kids and their kids can tell their friends. Combined with social media we can now reach both young and old. I am excited to see what that is going to do for the ratings.”

If you doubted that the world needed them the proof is in the stats.

According to Variety the two-hour 5 April premiere in the US debuted with an average of 2.5 million viewers.
