Police investigating Star Wars theft

Cape Town - There has been a robbery on the set of the new Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian.

Police in California are now trying to recover expensive camera and technical equipment that went missing from the top secret project in Manhattan Beach.

According to The Hollywood Reporter police were alerted about the theft on Thursday. 

The new TV series is being written and producer by Jon Favreau and will be set after the film Return of the Jedi.

Series directors include: Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, Deborah Chow and Dave Filoni.

The Mandalorian's first season will be eight episodes long and is scheduled to be released on Disney's streaming service in 2019.
