Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish will reprise their roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal in the series.
The show will be based on the book series The Perfectionists, written by Sara Shepard, the same author of Pretty Little Liars.
PLL showrunner Marlene King is back on board for the project.
Karey Burke, executive vp programming and development at Freeform said in a statement that the network is committed to delivering shows that push the boundaries and become part of their viewers lives.
"Pretty Little Liars was a cultural phenomenon so it’s no wonder fans wanted more," read the statement.
Freeform has released a synopsis for the pilot.
"Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi."
