Rian van Heerden leaving Jacaranda FM

2016-07-13 13:37

Cape Town – Jacaranda FM’s morning DJ Rian van Heerden is leaving the radio station at the end of March 2017, with no replacement yet.

The presenter of Jacaranda FM’s The Complimentary Breakfast Show is leaving at the end of March next year, but isn’t explaining why or what he will be doing in 2017.

Meanwhile Rian van Heerden will return to television next month as a presenter on VIA (Dstv 147) in a new show, Die Grootste Genoot, on the Afrikaans DStv catering to female viewers. Previous TV work included doing Voorblad and Rian on kykNET (DStv 144) and Skuur on SABC2.

Last month during an interview with SABC chief operating officer (COO) Hlaudi Motsoeneng and discussing Motsoeneng’s comment that he is now commissioning shows directly, Van Heerden joked and asked if he can also pitch a TV show.

In a statement from Jacaranda FM the radio station has not made any decisions yet regarding Van Heerden’s replacement.

“In the months to come I plan as a start to have a marathon party weekend, to broadcast from exotic locations around Africa and to provide complimentary breakfast experiences in traffic”.

Kevin Fine, Jacaranda FM’s general manager says “Rian is an incredible talent, someone who can tell a story and inspire all sorts of emotions. Over the next months, Rian will be sure to leave a legacy he will be proud of. Our listeners are in for an amazing treat and this will be the best listening experience”.
