Cape Town - When 7de Laan fans settled for their Sunday soapie binge, they got way more than they bargained for.
Instead of airing the previous week's episodes, SABC 2 aired the coming week's episodes, which revealed a pretty big plot twist.
Plenty of viewers were terribly confused, but others were excited about the news involving Hilda de Kock (Annelisa Weiland) and snobbish Mariaan Welman (Deirdre Wolhunter).
Since Deirdre’s character set foot in the Laan, she has caused a lot of unrest and drama.
"I love 7de Laan, I do not even care,” one fan commented on Facebook after the broadcaster’s mistake.
"No wonder Hilda and Mariaan are getting along so well,” another wrote excitedly. “When Mariaan has a problem she always feels comfortable sharing it with Hilda!”
The 7de Laan team apologised for the Sunday afternoon omnibus mishap, explaining that that it is the responsibility of the SABC to broadcast the correct episodes.
"Hopefully it will never happen again,” the producers said in a statement. “Please accept our apology for the inconvenience.”
