Cape Town -  Abomama, the drama written by Nonzi Bogatsuho and directed by Thomas Gumede about four church-going women who committed murder after digging up a bag of stolen money trended almost every Sunday and had close to a million viewership numbers.

But it seems this wasn’t enough to get them a nomination.

A hurt Thomas took his frustrations to social media asking his followers to weigh in on the issue.

Some of his followers were as shocked.

Some tweeps asked him to not despair because his time is coming.

Speaking to DRUM, NFVF Acting CEO, Shadrack Bokaba revealed that Abomama were entered in 14 sub-categories under the TV Drama categories. He further revealed that this year they received entries from 30 drama series.

“Judging is undertaken by a panel of 250 experts from across the different film and television fields.  Evaluation is measured against a pre-determined set of criteria and each submission is ranked accordingly.  However, we have created public voting categories to incorporate audience engagement.”

Shadrack also explained that they have been deeply impressed by the breadth and quality of all shows submitted for nomination this year.
